IGBO WORLD UNION P.G HAILS BRAZILIAN LAWMAKER IARA BENTO, EXTENDS INVITATION TO UNIFICATION EVENT

The President General of the Igbo World Union, Ambassador Mishak Nnanta KJW, Gburugburu Ndigbo Dum, has commended Iara Bento of the State House of Assembly in charge of Foreign Affairs and Racism in São Paulo, for her unwavering support to the Igbo community residing in the Brazilian city. The commendation was contained in a statement issued on behalf of the global Igbo body, recognizing her consistent efforts toward inclusiveness and protection of minority communities.


Ambassador Nnanta described the lawmaker as a “true friend of the Igbo people,” noting that her interventions have significantly improved the welfare, visibility, and sense of belonging of Igbos living in São Paulo. He emphasized that her office has remained accessible to members of the Igbo community, especially in addressing concerns related to racial discrimination, immigration challenges, and social integration.


According to the Igbo World Union President General, Hon. Iara Bento has demonstrated uncommon leadership by engaging directly with the Igbo diaspora community, ensuring that their voices are heard within the legislative and social framework of São Paulo. He added that her proactive stance on anti racism policies has created a safer and more inclusive environment for Africans, particularly Nigerians of Igbo descent.


Ambassador Nnanta further appreciated the lawmaker’s role in fostering cultural harmony, highlighting her participation in community engagements and her encouragement of intercultural dialogue between Brazilians and the Igbo people. He noted that such efforts have strengthened unity and mutual respect among diverse ethnic groups within the city.


In addition, the Igbo World Union President General formally extended an invitation to Hon. Iara Bento to attend the union’s forthcoming event aimed at unifying Igbos in Brazil. He stated that the event will serve as a platform to strengthen bonds among Igbo residents across Brazil, promote cultural identity, and deepen collaboration with supportive institutions and leaders within the host country.


The Igbo World Union reaffirmed its commitment to building strong international partnerships that will benefit Ndi Igbo worldwide. Ambassador Nnanta concluded by expressing optimism that the relationship between the Igbo community and the São Paulo State Assembly will continue to grow, while expressing hope that Hon. Bento’s presence at the upcoming unification event will further solidify the existing ties and shared vision for inclusiveness and progress.
