Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, says men of his command have arrested four men in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan, Oyo State, for attacking a businessman, Abdul-Akeem Amoo and his assistant, Adeleke Yahaya.
He said Amoo and Yahaya were attacked during their visit to a quarry which belonged to Amoo.
Amoo was said to have driven to the firm with N2m in the boot of his car on Sunday, meant for the paymentof his workers contractors.
It was gathered that the hoodlums, numbering around 10, swooped on Amoo as he approached the quarry. He was later tied and thrown into a van before being driven away.
They were, however, unlucky as the policemen on patrol intercepted them and freed their victim. Four of the suspected hoodlums were also arrested.
Amoo, who is receiving treatment in a hospital, said, “They said they were taking me to somewhere in Sagamu. God used the police to rescue us.”
The CP, Oyebade, said, “The matter will be treated as a civil crime. The command will not tolerate any act capable of destabilising the peace of the state.” punch
