The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Sam Onuigbo has stated that within the two years that he has been at the Green Chamber, he has been able to attract projects worth about N4.5billion to his constituency. These projects,he said, are minus the empowerment programmes he has been able to provide for some of his constituents.
Rep. Onuigbo who was speaking at an accountability platform in Texas, USA,listed the projects to include the inclusion of the 9.5 km Okwe-Obuohia-Ahia Orie ring road and the 3km Akpahia-Obi ohuru road in the budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) which will both gulp N2billion; erosion control works at Amankwo Ezeleke, Umuopara, in Umuahia South LGA,and at Okwe Oboro, in Ikwuano LGA attracted through the Ecological Funds Office of the Presidency, and which is costing over N800million; palliative works on the failed portions of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene federal road, which cost about N330million;Health centre projects in Obuohia and Oloko; construction of primary school blocks; and several other projects included in the 2016/2017 NDDC and Federal Government budgets.
The honourable member stated that while some of these projects have been completed,others are ongoing,while work will soon commence on some others.He stated that what has made all of these possible are his commitment to service, his desire to positively affect his people, the use of personal relationships, despite the fact that he belongs to the opposition party.
He promised that going forward, more will be done, and asked for the continuous prayers and support of his constituents
