Our attention has been drawn to a Press Release by a group: Ngwa Patriots Forum (NPF) from Abia South Senatorial District canvassing and urging for the retention of Governorship seat in Aba Zone, in 2023 the same zone that produce the incumbent governor Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, hinging their argument on Abia Charter of Equity. Please not that conscience is an open wound only the truth can heal it.
The Conscience for Good Governance, Abia State Chapter is warning the group to desist from overheating the polity and also making comments capable of destabilizing the state. The agitation and calls are huge distractions to the Governor who is a great son of Aba Division, in Abia Chapter of Equity.
The NPF call lacks merit, equity and fairness as enshrined in the Abia Chapter of Equity.
We are urging Ngwa Patriots Forum to join hands in supporting the administration of Governor Ikpeazu in delivering the good dividends of democracy to all Abians.
It is very unfortunate and naïve of the campaigners of retention of power in the same Aba Block in Abia Senatorial District come 2023, notwithstanding that the current governor is from there. The NPF is self-seeking and ignorant of the content and Blocks (Units) that made up Abia Chapter of Equity,
We advise them to read the Document careful and thoroughly before raising their voice, on power shift.
In the Abia Charter of Equity, there are no Old Bende nor Ukwa-Ngwa, what we have therein as components or members are: Afikpo, Bende, Isuikwuato and Aba (ABIA).
The Block that has the right and legitimacy to ask or agitate for power shift to their zone is Abia North. It is the turn of Isuikwuato District, Q.E.D. For instance Isuikwuato District is made up of Isuikwuato LGA and Umunneochi LGA. The two Local Govt. Areas had never existed as Old Bende, rather, they are known as Isuikwuato-Okigwe Division, which had existed thus before, during and after independence in 1960 and also before the creation of Abia State in 1991.
In view of the forgoing, that was why the founding fathers of Abia which included the 1st and 2nd Governors of the Eastern Region Dr. M.I. Okpara (from Old Bende Block) and Dr. Akanu Ibiam (from Afikpo Block), among other founding fathers, deemed it fit and reasonable to allow ISUIKWUATO DISTRICT to stand as a separate Entity/Block not lumped into Old Bende.
In fact, the old Bende people were known and referred to as NDI-OGBO while the other group comprising the Ukwa and Ngwa was referred to as ABA DIVISION. If in doubt NPF should ask their fathers, older politicians and elders of the truism.
We can deduce from NPF agitations that they are self-seeking and selfish group who don’t mean well for Abia State unity and stability.
We salute the visions and wisdom of the founding fathers of Abia State who gave us the document ABIA CHARTER OF EQUITY, as a guide for sharing both political positions and otherwise.
Enough of these distractions by Ngwa Patriots Forum.
