The Labour Party standard bearer in the 2023 governorship election in Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Wednesday, 1st February, 2023, took his campaign tour of the state to Isiala-Ngwa South LGA.
Dr. Otti commenced his campaign with a visit to the palace of HRM Eze Nelson Nmerengwa, an Elder-states man and Traditional Ruler of Isieketa autonomous community, who poured encomium on the Labour candidate, even as he gave him his Royal blessings.
Thereafter, the foremost economist and his campaign team proceeded to Umuene and Nkpuka communities respectively, where he was received by hundreds of party faithful and supporters who trooped out en-mass to hear his massage of hope.
While speaking to the large number of people, the top banker assured Abians of quality leadership under his administration, if elected by the people of Abia.
In his usual calm nature, Dr. Otti said , “The problem of Abia State is not unsolvable. We have what it takes in this state to turn things around. It’s not rocket science.
“Ndi Abia have suffered enough neglect. All state institutions have been neglected, the state has refused to pay workers on its payroll for more than 30 months. By the time we assume office in May, we shall begin clearing the backlog of salaries and pensions arrears in the state, and by the end of the year, all workers and pensioners would have been paid”, he concluded.
The frontline gubernatorial candidate also received defectors from factions of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and the Accord Party in the LGA, who lined up in their numbers to pick up their Labour Party membership cards, and pledged to work for the emergence of Dr. Otti and the Labour Party in Isiala-Ngwa.
Dr. Otti also used the opportunity to appreciate the ingenuity of a young man who developed a prototype of an SUV vehicle. He awarded the lad scholarship in the Alex Otti Foundation, where he would be supported to further his education and subsequently build a successful career in engineering.
Dr. Alex Otti was accompanied to the town hall meetings by his wife , Mrs. Priscilla Otti; his potential deputy, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu; Campaign DG, Hon. Acho Obioma (Chomen), Chief. Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, LP candidate for Isiala-Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency; Hon.
