I will involve traditional rulers in Governance - Mascot Uzor Kalu

The Action Peoples Party APP governorship candidate in Abia State Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu has promised to involve traditional rulers in governance if elected governor.

This is contained in a statement he made available to newsmen in Aba the commercial nerve center of the State.

According to the statement,
The governorship candidate stated that traditional rulers would participate fully in governance, particularly in peace-building and security, pledging to initiate a bill for the amendment of the Peace Building Agency and the state security outfit, to accommodate traditional rulers on their boards.

“I have identified some key areas in the constitution to be amended for the involvement of the traditional institution in governance,” stated Mr Mascot. “As a revered, respected and rallying point for both the government and the governed, there is a need to clearly spell out the constitutional role of the traditional rulers in the constitution.”

The APP flag bearer also explained that he would work with members of the National Assembly “ to push for the amendment of the constitution to involve traditional rulers in governance.”

“Some existential challenges confronting the state such as insecurity, disharmony and perennial poverty were the fundamental problems the state was grappling with, Mascot added.
