The staff of Ministry of Lands and Housing (former Ministry of Housing) have on a protest late Tuesday afternoon have humbly written to appeal to his Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti to intervene I. What they call injustice metted against them.
In communique written by the affected staff and forward to the media, they stated below that:
1. They were employed in April, 2022 but didn't receive any salary for 2022 as a result of unnecessary bureaucratic bottleneck which was in no way our making
2. Eventually salaries started coming in from January, 2023 but have been irregular with some people not being paid which continued till date. However we continued to come to work to support in our own little way the enthronement of the new Abia agenda.
3. Some of them were given verification code but when keyed it reports "invalid code" while some were not given the code at all.
According to them, "We plead to his Excellency as a father and the proponent of the new Abia to compassionately use his good offices to look into this matter as it is disheartening that all our dedications and efforts will be in vain. We are indeed heartbroken.
It may interest his Excellency to Know that we have been discharging our duties regularly of which our bosses can attest to irrespective of the irregularities of our salaries but now we are being told that without being verified, we are not being recognized as employees of Abia State Government". They appealed.
"Your Excellency we have families looking up to us, we can't believe this is happening after all our commitment and dedication to work.
We therefore humbly appeal for his Excellency's kind fatherly consideration for we are not ghost workers and we where actually recruited through due process.
Your Excellency, please be fair to us and kindly grants us justice." They said.
