Bus drivers in Umuahia have expressed frustration over harassment by the so called taskforce who claim to represent the Local Government. The drivers in their number who besieged the street in protest alleged that the taskforce regularly punctures their tires whenever they drop off passengers even when theirs no bus stop or approved park.
"We don't have a designated bus stop," the drivers stated. "Wherever we stop, taskforce will puncture our tires if we refuse to pay 50,000 and sometimes 60,000."
The drivers aretis calling on the Mayor of Umuahia North LGA to address this issue and curb the taskforce's activities to prevent a breakdown of law and order. They have requested the Mayor to establish an official bus stop to end the confusion and harassment. along Umuwaya/ABA rd down to Isigate.
We don't think the Governor with all his good intentions for Abia people can approval this kind unprofessionalism
"Currently, there is no official place for us to drop our passengers. Wherever we stop, they extort N60,000 from us," " they added.
