Umuahia, June 12, 2024 — In celebration of Democracy Day, Honorable Anderson Akaliro, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly, extended a heartfelt message to the people of Abia. His address highlighted the importance of democracy and the collective effort needed to advance the state’s development.
Hon. Akaliro acknowledged the journey of Nigeria since the return to civilian rule in 1999, emphasizing the progress made and the challenges overcome. "Today, we honor the resilience and dedication of our people in sustaining democratic governance. It is a day to reflect on our past, appreciate our present, and work diligently towards a brighter future," he remarked.
He pointed to the milestones achieved within Abia State, crediting the collaborative efforts of both the government and the citizens. "From improving our educational system to enhancing healthcare services and infrastructure, our strides forward are a testament to what we can achieve when we work together," Akaliro noted.
Furthermore, Hon. Akaliro called for renewed commitment from all Abians to tackle pressing issues such as unemployment, insecurity, and economic inequality. He stressed the importance of active civic participation in strengthening democracy and fostering development.
