ABUJA, Nigeria – In a heartfelt address on Democracy Day, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Engr. Chinedum Orji, extended his warmest greetings and reflections to Nigerians across the nation. Marking this significant day, Orji emphasized the importance of unity, resilience, and collective effort in the nation's democratic journey.

"Democracy Day is a reminder of our collective struggle and the sacrifices made by countless Nigerians to achieve and sustain our democracy," Orji stated. He acknowledged the progress made over the years, while also highlighting the ongoing challenges that require concerted efforts from all citizens and leaders.

Engr. Orji urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic values, including transparency, accountability, and respect for human rights. He stressed the need for inclusive governance and active participation of all citizens in the democratic process, which he believes are crucial for national development and stability.

Reflecting on the current socio-economic and political landscape, Orji called for a renewed focus on policies that promote economic growth, social justice, and national cohesion. "Our democracy can only thrive when we address the issues that affect the everyday lives of our people – from poverty and unemployment to insecurity and corruption," he noted.

He also lauded the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and democratic institutions and civil society organizations in promoting good governance and safeguarding democratic principles. "It is through our collective effort that we can build a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria," Orji concluded.
