President Igbo World Union Amb Sir Mishak Nnanta Sends Democracy Day Message to Ndi Igbo

 

Umuahia, June 12, 2024 — As Nigeria celebrates Democracy Day, the esteemed President of the Igbo World Union, His Imperial Majesty Amb Sir Mishak Nnanta, kjw, Gburugburu Ndi Igbo dum delivered a poignant message to the Igbos, urging unity, resilience, and active participation in the democratic process.

In his address, HRH Dr. Nnata reflected on the significance of Democracy Day, marking the return of civilian rule in Nigeria in 1999. He praised the contributions of the Igbo people to the nation's democratic journey, emphasizing their role in promoting peace, development, and cultural heritage.

"Today, we honor the sacrifices and achievements of our people who have tirelessly worked to uphold democratic values and contribute to the progress of our nation. Democracy is not just a system of governance; it is a way of life that empowers us to shape our destiny," Nnanta stated.

He highlighted the advancements within Igbo communities, noting improvements in education, business, and infrastructure as key areas of development. "Our entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to education have positioned us as leaders in various sectors. These achievements are a testament to our collective effort and determination," he said.

Despite these successes, IWU President acknowledged the challenges facing the Igbo nation, including economic disparities, security issues, and political marginalization. He called for greater unity among Igbos and a renewed commitment to addressing these issues through democratic means.

"Let us stand together in solidarity, advocating for our rights and working towards common goals. Our strength lies in our unity, and by supporting one another, we can overcome any obstacle. Democracy provides us with the tools to effect change, and it is our responsibility to use them wisely," he urged.

His Imperial Majesty Amb Sir Mishak Nnanta kjw concluded his message with a call to action for the Igbo people to remain hopeful and actively engaged in the democratic process. "Be hopeful and remain vigilant. Participate in governance, hold leaders accountable, and contribute to the development of our communities. Together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come," he encouraged.
