It is one year of legislative Excellence - Abia Assembly Chief Whip Hon Obioma Declares as House marks anniversary

The Abia State House of Assembly celebrated its first anniversary today, June 14, marking a year of legislative progress and impactful governance. 

In a statement made available to newsmen today, Chief Whip Emeka Obioma praised the Assembly's commitment to excellence and its significant contributions to the state's development. "Over the past year, we have demonstrated a steadfast dedication to our legislative duties, ensuring that the laws we pass reflect the needs and aspirations of our people," Obioma stated. 
He highlighted the collective efforts of the Assembly members in driving progress and enacting meaningful legislation.

He commended the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches, emphasizing that their collaboration has been pivotal in advancing the state's development agenda. "The synergy we have fostered has resulted in policies and projects that uplift our communities and drive sustainable development," He said 

Also speaking to Newsmen, The Speaker Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa commended every member of the house for their efforts so far in ensuring that the legislative activities of the state have been a success.

“Over the past year, the house has received 46 petitions and considered 55 motions. Additionally, 15 bills have been raised, and the house has ensured that 5 of these bills are passed into law after careful review" the Honourable Speaker revealed. 

“Overall, the house has seen to 40 resolutions within this year, including addressing inter-community and local government conflicts, infrastructure issues, and health,” he further stated.

Emuruwa also announced a proposed three-day workshop in Uyo to develop collaborative strategies with the executive branch for efficient implementation of future laws and policies.

Reflecting on the past year, Chief Whip, Hon. Obioma underscored the importance of continued diligence and unity among Assembly members. 
"As we move into our second year, let us remain committed to our legislative responsibilities and work together to address the challenges ahead," he urged.

  1. Indeed the positions the legislature & the executive have taken in the past one year are all visible for abians to see. We pray for more of God's wisdom & strength in the coming year for our state to be on top in infrastructural development and the likes
