Abia State Tribunal strucks Otti's motion

Chairman of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Abia State Justice Usman Bwala has struck out the motion moved by the petitioner Dr Alex Otti in respect of the extension of time to enable him bring in more witnesses for more cross examination.


It will be recalled that the seven day given to the petitioner for cross examination of his witness ended on August 20, with the appearance of the 20th witness Chief Ahamdi Nwaeke. The petitioner therefore applied for extention of time on four grounds which objected the first and second respondents by filling preliminary objections as well as counter affidavit to the petitioners reply. INEC as the 3rd respondent, relied other submissions of the first and second respondents asking the tribunal to dismiss the motion. 

Meanwhile, the lead council to the petitioner Professor Awa Kalu told newsmen that at the appropriate time they will say how they feel about the ruling.

However, lead Counsel to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Mr. Paul Ananaba SAN added that it is a land mark ruling the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
