A bus conductor, Odunayo Balogun, has been arraigned before a Yaba Magistrate’s Court for allegedly spitting on a female policewoman.
The incident happened on Saturday at Pako bus stop, Akoka, Lagos.
It was learnt that the driver of the bus had parked on the road, leading to a gridlock.
The policewoman was said to have challenged the conductor when she could not find the driver, leading to an argument.
The suspect was alleged to have spat on the cop’s face and body.
Balogun was subsequently arrested and arraigned on one count of assault.
The charge read, “That you, Odunayo Balogun, on September 5, 2015, at about 9.50am at Pako bus stop, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did assault a police officer while carrying out her duties, by spitting on her face and body, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 284 and punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
The suspect pleaded not guilty.
The magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Erinle thereafter granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000, with two sureties.
The matter was adjourned till October 5, 2015, for mention.
