Disseminated that his people of Ukwa la Ngwa has an anointed a candidate.
According to the Elder statesman, "While I respects individual members right to express themselves, it is expected to be done not to distabilize the party and cause disunity among the good people of Ukwa LA Ngwa, the party and Abia in general.
"I hereby call on my numerous supporters to disregard the news making round that Ukwa LA Ngwa elders council and the Governor have anointed a candidate. I want to state and state categorically that I am still in the race, as there is nothing like anointed candidate. I urge all my supporters to remain calm and continue in their unalloyed support. No cause for alarm Chief Omerekpe said.
Recall that The Ukwa-La-Ngwa Bloc has last week claimed to have urged former Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University (ABSU), Prof. Uche Ikonne, to fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its consensus candidate, saying he should accept the offer, irrespective of his political persuasions.
Led by Chief Theo Nkire, the Ukwa-La-Ngwa Clan issued a 12-hour ultimatum to Ikonne after a top delegation visited him (Ikonne) at his Umuahia residence.
