In a release made available to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State capital in commemoration of the day, Engr. Enyinnaya also reminded the engineers of the evolving nature of technology, hence the need to continuously update their knowledge and engage in information-sharing forums to stay abreast of developments.
He pointed out that constant learning and adaptation is essential to address contemporary sustainability challenges effectively, and further reminded the professionals that solutions effective a decade ago may not be applicable today.
The NSE boss who espoused and expounded the 2024 theme of the celebration, "Engineering Solutions for a Sustainable World", pointed out that the theme highlights the critical role engineers play in developing innovative solutions to address global challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality.
Engr. Enyinnaya who also pointed out that World Engineering Day is a global celebration of how engineers, technicians, and technologists make a difference, said that NSE Umuahia branch supports and encourages the equitable opportunity for participation of all people within the engineering profession without regard to ethnicity, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, or physical challenges .
While highlighting the crucial role of engineers in advancing the living conditions of Nigerians, Engr. Enyinnaya, maintained that engineering solutions play a vital role to create a sustainable world by addressing multifaceted challenges.
According to him Engineers integrate creativity, innovation, and technology to develop solutions that promote sustainability, resilience, and equity.
Engr. Enyinnaya, who also used the medium to appreciate the strides recorded by the Abia State Governor Alex Otti as it affects housing and road infrastructure, harped on the need to increase the human capacity of the engineering professionals within the State Civil Service and the state in general.
He posited that involving the Engineers in the provision of some services to the State Government, would create a window of encouraging local content and growing the capacity within the Society and the state.
Moreover, he encouraged engineering students to work in teams towards a global real-world problem, which include energy crisis.
