Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Engr Chinedum Orji (APC), has extended his warmest greetings and best wishes to the Muslim community in Abia State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid el-Kabir.

In a heartfelt message released earlier today, Rt Hon. Orji emphasized the importance of the festival, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. He highlighted the values of faith, sacrifice, and compassion that are central to the celebration.

"As our Muslim brothers and sisters gather to observe this sacred festival, I wish to express my sincere congratulations and best wishes. Eid el-Kabir is a time for reflection, sacrifice, and unity, values that are crucial for the development and harmony of our society," Orji said.

The Speaker called for unity and mutual respect among the diverse religious and ethnic groups in Abia State, urging citizens to use the occasion to promote peace and goodwill. He acknowledged the contributions of the Muslim community to the state’s development and praised their commitment to the principles of charity and service to humanity.

"As we celebrate, let us remember to extend our hands to the less privileged and to share the joy and blessings of this season with those in need. May this Eid bring joy, peace, and prosperity to all," he added.

Rt Hon. Engr Chinedum Orji also urged the faithful to observe the public health guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy celebration. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all religious communities in Abia State.

Eid el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar. It is marked by prayers, feasts, and the symbolic act of sacrificing an animal, with portions of the meat distributed to the needy.

As the Muslim community all over the country celebrates this important festival, the message of unity, sacrifice, and compassion from the Speaker serves as a reminder of the shared values that bind all Nigerians together.
