Amb. Sir Mishak Nnanta, President of the Igbo World Union (IWU), has called on Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to ensure that the upcoming local government council elections are free, fair, and transparent. Nnanta emphasized that credible elections are crucial for upholding democracy and restoring public trust in the electoral process within Abia State.
Addressing Newsmen in Abia, Nnanta highlighted the importance of allowing the people of Abia State to choose their local representatives without interference or bias. He expressed concerns over past elections marred by irregularities and called on Governor Otti to prioritize fairness and transparency, which he described as essential to sustainable governance at the grassroots level.
“The people of Abia State deserve the right to select leaders who will represent their interests, address local needs, and promote community development. I urge Governor Otti to ensure that this election reflects the true will of the people,” Nnanta stated.
Nnanta further underscored that a credible election would strengthen the state’s democratic institutions and enhance the people’s faith in the administration’s commitment to reform. He assured Abians of the Igbo World Union’s continued advocacy for good governance and encouraged citizens to actively participate in the election process.
The forthcoming council elections are expected to be a crucial test for Governor Otti’s administration in its quest to deliver on promises of transparency, integrity, and improved governance at all levels.
